Your Committee on Finance,to which was referred Bill No. 283, reports as follows:
Bill No. 283, transmitted jointly with Resolution No. 265-02 by Director of Finance
William Takaba, via Communication No. 813, dated November 4, 2002, amends Ordinance
No. 02-76, as amended, the Operating Budget, ending June 30, 2003. The amendment is as
follows:
From:
3301.21 Federal Grants—Rural Fire Assistance General $5,000
To:
010-221-5228.01 Rural Fire Assistance General $5,000
These funds will be used for wildland fire training and equipment purchase for the Hawai`i
County Fire Department. This should benefit the public by having reduced fire loss, increased
firefighter safety and training, and the reduction of occurrence and intensity of wildland fires
with the urban interface.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawai`i Revised Statutes, and Section 13-13(b), Hawai`i County
Charter, the Mayor is hereby authorized to apply for, receive and expend the funds for the
program(s) identified in Section 1.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with theP �u ose and intent of Bill No. 283 and
recommends it pass first reading.
