Your Committee on Finance,to which was referred Resolution No. 447-22, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 447-22,transmitted by Council Member Maile David via Communication No. 854
dated June 28, 2022, awards a Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation
Maintenance Fund stewardship grant to Na Mamo 0 Kawa.
This resolution approves a grant of$123,500 to Na Mamo 0 Kawa, a 501(c)(3)nonprofit
organization,to protect,preserve, and restore the Kawa Bay properties in Ka`u,pursuant to
Section 10-16(h) of the Hawai`i County Charter.
Ms. David provided comments thanking Na Mamo 0 Kawa President P. Kai McGuire for his work
on the measure.
Committee Chair Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder provided comments in support of the measure.
Pursuant to Section 10-16(h), an award of a Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources
Preservation Maintenance Fund stewardship grant shall be by Council resolution.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 447-22, and
recommends its adoption.
