Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 188,reports as follows:
Bill No. 188 transmitted by Finance Director Deanna S. Sako via Communication No. 869 dated
June 30, 2022, amends Ordinance No. 22-63, as amended,the Operating Budget for the County of
Hawaii for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023.
This bill appropriates revenues in the Federal Grants—Section 5311 Grant(American Rescue Plan
Act) account($1,879,773); and appropriates the same to the Section 5311 Grant(American Rescue
Plan Act) account. Funds would be used by the Mass Transit Agency for operational costs resulting
from the COVID-19 pandemic and lost passenger fares through December 31, 2025.
Committee Chair Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder provided comments in support of the measure.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 188, and
recommends its passage on first reading.
