RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANTT THE LIONS CLUB OF
K NA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION INC., FOR ITS SILVER ANNIVERSARY
CELEBRATION ATT E HAROLD H. HIGASHIHARAPARK.
WHEREAS, the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation Inc., (LCKCFI) is a
501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to develop and provide community service
projects and activities that meet the needs of the community; and
WHEREAS, on September 24, 2022, LCKCFI is partnering with the Friends of
Higashihara Park to celebrate Kamakana Playground's 25th anniversary; and
WHEREAS, the Silver Anniversary Celebration is free, open to the public, and will
include a full day of fun, with a poster contest, games, activities for the entire family,
entertainment, food trucks, and information about the history of Kamakana Playground; and
WHEREAS, LCKCFI is requesting funds to help with advertising, entertainment,
equipment and supplies, food, drinks,paper goods, and other miscellaneous expenses associated
with the event; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Parks and Recreation is to provide
events and activities that celebrate and commemorate our culture, heritage, and diverse
communities; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation Inc., for
its Silver Anniversary Celebration at the Harold H. Higashihara Park.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
