COUNTY OF G ;• STATE OF HAWAIII t'A�°;am wwaw:'t�o ,rf pp'Fyp� RESOLUTION NO. 483 22 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANTT SS TS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT GROUP FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO THE 2022 AWAI`I ISLAND ALL NATIONS POWWOW. WHEREAS, the Grassroots Community Development Group is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports individuals and groups that provide programs, activities, events, projects, and educational workshops that benefit the public and are free of charge; and WHEREAS, the Grassroots Community Development Group will assist in coordinating the 2022 Hawaii Island All Nations Powwow to be held on September 17-18, 2022, in Keaukaha, Hilo with approximately 130 participants from Canada and the continental United States; and WHEREAS, a powwow is meant to honor our host culture through a variety of activities and to promote educational events that foster an understanding and connection through the sharing of Native American culutre in a family-oriented and community environment; and WHEREAS, the Grassroots Community Development Group is requesting funds for food/lodging, insurance, and other costs to host the participants from Canada and the continental United States; and WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that provide drug- free and alcohol-free events for the community; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAIII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to Grassroots Community Development Group for expenses relating to the 2022 Hawaii Island All Nations Powwow. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
