SMS'®�Ni1y <br /> 4w- s <br /> COUNTY OF c b. m+ <br /> STATE OF HAWAIII <br /> ,AF6F BbP� <br /> RESOLUTION O. 486 22 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE BIG ISLAND <br /> SOURCE CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL FOR EXPENSES <br /> RELATED TO THE 36TH ANNUAL BIG ISLAND PRO-AM SURFING TRIALS. <br /> WHEREAS, the Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council is a <br /> 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to ensure broadened economic opportunities, <br /> enriched communities, and better lives for the people of Hawaii Island and to achieve <br /> sustainable development while caring for and appreciating the natural environment; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council is the <br /> fiscal sponsor for the 36th Annual Big Island Pro-Am Surfing Trials being held in August 2022 <br /> at Honoli`i Beach Park, weather and waves permitting; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Big Island Pro-Am Surfing Trials is a beloved community event that <br /> promotes surfing as an important international sport, particularly with Hawaiian cultural origins, <br /> and empowers island youth with a platform to showcase their surfing talents; and <br /> WHEREAS, the 36th Annual Big Island Pro-Am Surfing Trials will feature the island's <br /> best surfers, bodyboarders, and long boarders as they vie for eight coveted entries into Hawai`i's <br /> professional qualifier competitions on O`ahu's North Shore; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council is <br /> requesting funds for supplies, a sound system, refreshments, and other miscellaneous expenses <br /> associated with the 36th Annual Big Island Pro-Am Surfing Trials; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports diversified recreation <br /> programs that address the needs and interests of Hawaii Island's communities in a safe <br /> environment; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Big Island Resource Conservation and <br /> Development Council to assist with expenses related to the 36th Annual Big Island Pro-Am <br /> Surfing Trials. <br />
