RESOLUTION NO. 490 22
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE DANIEL R.
SAYRE MEMORIAL FOUNDATION TO PURCHASE TWO WATER SAFETY
CRAFTS AND RELATED EQUIPMENT FOR THE HAWAII FIRE DEPARTMENT'S
OCEAN SAFETY DIVISION.
WHEREAS, the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization committed to providing essential equipment and supplies as identified by the
Hawaii Fire Department, to help save lives; and
WHEREAS,the Hawaii Fire Department's mission is to provide exceptional, all-
hazards emergency services to the residents of, and visitors to, Hawaii Island; and
WHEREAS,the Hawaii Fire Department has identified an immediate need for water
safety crafts,trailers, and related equipment,which are vital to rescue operations conducted by
its Ocean Safety Division; and
WHEREAS, while the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Foundation has raised $25,000 in
donations thus far to acquire this much needed equipment, the Foundation is facing a shortfall
and has requested funding assistance to supplement those donations in order to complete the
purchase of two water safety crafts,trailers,tow boards, and related equipment for the Hawaii
Fire Department's Ocean Safety Division; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Hawaii Fire
Department to provide a grant to the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Foundation to assist in the
purchase of two water safety crafts, trailers, tow boards, and related equipment for the Hawaii
Fire Department's Ocean Safety Division.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Fire Chief and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is hereby
authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
