RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF UP TO EIGHT (8) BUSES FROM THE CITY AND COUNTY OF HONOLULU DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION SERVICES
WHEREAS, the City and County of Honolulu Department of Transportation Services is donating up to eight (8) 2000 and 2002 40-foot Gillig Phantom buses to the County of Hawai‘i’s Mass
Transit Agency; and
WHEREAS, these buses will be used to provide island-wide public transportation within the County of Hawai‘i; and
WHEREAS, the estimated value of this donation is $1,000 each; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai‘i County Charter provides that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities or other personal
property or of real estate or any interest in real estate, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (a) of the Hawai‘i County Code states that any gifts or donations of money, securities,
or personal property which fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawai‘i’s Mass Transit Agency recommends the acceptance of this donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai‘i County Charter, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a)
of the Hawai‘i County Code, the Council of the County of Hawai‘i accepts this donation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution be sent to Roger Morton, Director, Department of Transportation Services, City and County of Honolulu,
711 Kapiolani Blvd., Suite 1600, Honolulu, HI 96813.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Mass transit Agency, the Department of Finance, and the Office of the Mayor.
