CALL TO The regular meeting of the Committee on Regenerative Agriculture, Water,
ORDER: Energy and Environmental Management was called to order at 1:30 p.m., in the
Council Chambers, Hilo, by Mr. Holeka Goro Inaba, Vice Chair.
ROLL CALL:

ACTING CHR. INABA: Thank you. And with that we'll close public testimony,
and move to Communication 884.

Comm. 884: NOMINATION OF ROBERT DUERR TO THE GAME MANAGEMENT
ADVISORY COMMISSION
From Mayor Mitchell D. Roth, dated July 13, 2022, requesting the Council's
review and confirmation.
Requires Council
Confirmation by: August 26, 2022 (Section 134(k)
Hawaii County Charter)
Motion to Approve: Ms. Lee Loy moved to recommend confirmation of the
nomination of Mr. Robert Duerr to the Game Management
Advisory Commission. Seconded by Ms. Kimball.
Executive Assistant to the Mayor Pomaika`i Bartolome came forward and
provided a brief narrative of the nominee's background and experience.
Committee Members spoke in favor of the appointment.
ACTING CHR. INABA: Mahalo, Ms. Bartolome. And do we have Mr. Duerr
joining us via Zoom?
MS. BARTOLOME: Kalamai, yeah, so unfortunately Mr. Duerr wasn't able to
be here today, he already had something that was pre-planned.
ACTING CHR. INABA: Okay, with that then I'll open it up to my colleagues.
Any questions? Ms. Lee Loy.
MS. LEE LOY: Yeah, thank you. Yeah, I'm willing to move this nomination
forward, but will he be available at our next meeting? And where are we on
quorum for this particular committee.
MS. BARTOLOME: Yes, so he will be able to make the August 17'', I believe
meeting. As far as quorum, the Game Management Advisory Commission
they're good,they currently have eight members so they're good.
MS. LEE LOY: Sure, I'm willing to move this nomination forward. I know this
is Ms. Kimball's district, and we'll follow the lead of the representative of the
district. Thank you.
ACTING CHR. INABA: Council Member Kimball.
MS. KIMBALL: Thank you, Chair. Yes, I would recommend moving this
forward today. Mr. Duerr is very active and has been in contact with my office
already about some various things regarding issues in the district. So I think he's
going to be an active participant on this board—encourage my colleagues to
support this.

ACTING CHR. INABA: Thank you. Any other questions? Ms. Kierkiewicz, go
ahead.
MS. KIERKIEWICZ: Thank you, Chair. I'll be supporting this nomination. I
actually went to school with Bob's daughter Martha at St. Joe, so I know that he's
been, you know, advit just kind of outdoors men. I know that he would bring a lot
to this particular body, so I'll be supporting his nomination. But would love for
him to have the opportunity to kind of share with us his passion, and what he
thinks he can contribute. So please let him know that we look forward to
speaking with him in August. Thanks, Pomai. Thank you, Chair.
ACTING CHR. INABA: Thank you. And with that then there is a motion to
forward Mr. Duerr's nomination to Council with a favorable recommendation.
Vote on Comm. 884: The motion to recommend confirmation of the appointment
(Approved) of Mr. Robert Duerr to the Game Management Advisory
Committee was carried by the following voice vote:
Ayes: Committee Members Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder,
Kierkiewicz, Kimball, Lee Loy, and
Chair Inaba—5.
Noes: None.
Absent: Committee Members Chung, David,
Richards, and Villegas —4.
Excused: None.
ACTING CHR. INABA: And yes if we could have him at the August 17'h
meeting, that would be great. Mahalo, Ms. Bartolome.
ADJOURN- There being no further business, at 1:35 p.m., Ms. Lee Loy moved to adjourn the
MENT: meeting. Seconded by Mr. Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder and carried by the following
voice vote:
Ayes: Committee Members Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder,
Kierkiewicz, Kimball, Lee Loy, and
Chair Inaba—5.
Noes: None.
Absent: Committee Members Chung, David,
Richards, and Villegas —4.
