Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 882,reports as follows:
Communication No. 882,transmitted by the Honorable Mayor Mitchell D. Roth, dated July 13, 2022,
nominates Joyce M. Unoki to the Pension Board.
Executive Assistant to the Mayor Pomaika`i Bartolome introduced the nominee. Ms. Bartolome stated
that Ms. Unoki has been a Hawaii resident for 62 years,holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social
Science, and retired from the County of Hawaii after 30 years of service. If confirmed, Ms. Unoki will
serve a term ending December 31, 2026. Ms. Unoki also briefly introduced herself to the Committee
members.
Committee Chair Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder thanked Ms. Unoki for being present at the meeting and the
administration for putting forth her nomination.
Pursuant to Section 6-6.4, Hawai`i County Charter,there shall be a pension board who shall be
appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication No. 882, and
recommends the confirmation of the appointment of Joyce M. Unoki to the Pension Board.
