Your Committee on Finance,to which was referred Resolution No. 473-22,reports as follows:
Resolution No. 473-22,transmitted by Finance Director Deanna S. Sako via Communication No. 892, dated
July 15,2022, authorizes the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the United States Geological Survey.
Funds in the amount of$50,576 would be used to continue the Cooperative Flood-Monitoring Program,
which consists of the planning and designing of flood management systems such as bridges, culverts,
and levees.
Per Committee Member Susan L. K. Lee Loy's request, Ms. Sako stated that Finance will confirm with
Public Works whether the data collected will be used to update the County's flood insurance rate maps.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawai`i Revised Statutes, and Section 13-13, Hawai`i County Charter,the
Mayor is authorized to apply for, receive, and expend the funds for contracts with private parties, other
counties, the State, or the United States government for functions or activities which the County is
authorized to perform.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 473-22, and
recommends its adoption.
