Subject: More EV Charging Stations, Please
Hello, I am a resident of Pa'auilo.We own an EV and are investing in rooftop solar.One obstacle to"going green"on the island has
been the lack of charging stations.This reduces the range of our EV and forces us to drive our regular car more often.
With gas at just$5 per gallon,the car costs DOUBLE the EV per mile driven. It gets worse when gas prices are around$6 per gallon.
This huge cost difference is despite the high cost of HELCO energy.
EVs aren't just environmentally better,they are also way cheaper to drive. Please help the county transition to a better energy future
(and more affordable economy) by helping build the EV charging network.
There are a couple other things the county can also do:
>Simplify permitting for rooftop solar
> Look into price gouging by local solar installers(prices here are almost double the Oahu rate, regardless of who you go to for a
quote). Price gouging negates most of the benefit of federal and state tax credits(essentially they go to the contractor).
