Aloha,
As climate-related disasters continue to affect multiple continents and our own island's vulnerability to climate change becomes
more evident daily, Hawaii County must step up its game.A rapid conversion to electric vehicles represents a critical piece of any
climate strategy, but that transition is greatly hampered by Hawaii Island's shortage of public charging stations. Until that is
addressed, many renters and others who can't charge at home simply won't consider an EV.
Bill 120 will help remedy this problem by bolstering our public charging network. Every major public parking facility needs EV
chargers, and those chargers need to be well-maintained and functional. We won't get there overnight, but Bill 120 will help.
Please pass it without delay.
