J�yYa Of COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII '4T�r'OF'hih� RESOLUTION NO. 499 22 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE BIG ISLAND RESOURCE CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL FOR EXPENSES RELATED TO THE 36TH ANNUAL BIG ISLAND PRO-AM SURFING TRIALS. WHEREAS, the Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council (BIRCDC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to ensure broadened economic opportunities, enriched communities, and better lives for the people of Hawaii Island and to achieve sustainable development while caring for and appreciating the natural environment; and WHEREAS, the 36th Annual Big Island Pro-Am Surfing Trials is a community event that promotes surfing as an important international sport and supports our youth in an athletic competition dedicated to perpetuating the Hawaiian cultural tradition of surfing; and WHEREAS, BIRCDC is the fiscal sponsor requesting funds to assist with refreshments for volunteers and participants, miscellaneous event supplies, shirts, and banners for the event to be held in August 2022 at Honoli`i Beach Park, weather permitting; and WHEREAS,the Department of Parks and Recreation supports organizations and programs that meet the needs of the community while maintaining the cultural uniqueness of Hawai`i's rich heritage, diversity, and the aloha spirit; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to BIRCDC for expenses related to the 36th Annual Big Island Pro-Am Surfing Trials at Honoli`i Beach Park. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
