Time Element Change
This is to transmit Resolution No. 161-99, Draft 2, which was the result of an amendment made
by the Council at its meeting of November 17, 1999.
Specifically, the change eliminated the second BE IT RESOLVED clause regarding the
availability of funds and inserted the account number in the last WHEREAS clause.

RESOLUTION CHANGING TIME ELEMENT OF THREE (3)
FACILITIES MAINTENANCE AND SERVICE WORKER 11/2T TO
FULL TIME
WHEREAS, the Hoolulu Complex includes the Seven Seas Luau
House, Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium, Butler Building, Edith Kanakaole
Multi-Purpose Stadium, Walter Victor Stadium (Pony Field, Colt Field
and Little League), Dr. Francis F. C. Wong Stadium, and the Hilo Drag
Strip; and
WHEREAS, there are three (3) full time Facilities Maintenance
and Service Worker I, five (5) half time workers, one (1) three-fourths
time worker and one (1) two-fifths time worker; and
WHEREAS, since fiscal year 1995-96, there has been a 40%
increase in the usage of the facilities under the Hoolulu Complex and a
56% increase in revenues; and
WHEREAS, because the staff is mostly comprised of part time
employees, they clean up after events and partially prepare for
upcoming events; and
WHEREAS, by increasing the time elements of Position Nos.
2848, 2851, and 3647, Facilities Maintenance and Service Worker I
1/2T, BC-03, to full time, the additional four (4) hours a day will
enable staff to clean windows, wax floors, pressure wash bleachers
and walkways, repair ball fields, paint buildings and tables, trim
hedges; and
WHEREAS, by doing these additional tasks daily, the facilities
will experience less deterioration and alleviate long-term wear and
tear; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in the Hoolulu Park Complex
Regular Salaries and Wages account (010-500-5511.01-011).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF
THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Positjon Nos. 2848, 2851, and 3647,
Facilities Maintenance & Service Worker I 1/2T, BC-03, be changed to
full time.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
transmitted to the Departments of Parks & Recreation, Finance and
Civil Service.
