HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 505 Draft 01 2020-2022 JM. of.14COUNTY OF HAWAIII STATE OF HAWAPI ♦l�' wiMOM.'Y� �TEjOF.NA.pi RESOLUTION NO. 505 22, A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE ZONTA CLUB OF KILO FOUNDATION FOR ITS SERVICE PROJECTS THAT ARE DEDICATED TO EMPOWERING AND INSPIRING YOUNG GIRLS. WHEREAS, the Zonta Club of Hilo Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower women and girls through service and advocacy; and WHEREAS, the Zonta Club of Hilo Foundation has designed several service projects geared towards exposing girls to positive experiences that inspire a strong sense of self, and WHEREAS,the Zonta Club of Hilo Foundation is hosting a free "Magnificent Me" conference at the University of Hawaii at Hilo on Friday, September 30, 2022, which will bring together 100 middle school girls from various Hawaii Island public schools to participate in workshops that build confidence and self-esteem, to engage in thought-provoking conversations, to bond with their peers, to experience a university setting, and to meet prominent professional women who can serve as mentors; and WHEREAS, the Zonta Club of Hilo Foundation promotes positive and non-violent behaviors by teaching "Hands Are Not for Hitting, Hands Are for Helping" through reading, singing, and crafts; and WHEREAS, the Zonta Club of Hilo Foundation hosts the "Amelia Earhart Girls in Engineering Day"to promote and encourage girls in fourth grade through eighth grade to pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM)pathways; and WHEREAS, the Zonta Club of Hilo Foundation is requesting funds to purchase books, materials, and supplies to support the "Magnificent Me," "Hands Are Not for Hitting, Hands Are for Helping," and"Amelia Earhart Girls In Engineering Day"projects; and WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports public programs and projects that promote educational activities for youth in a drug- and alcohol-free environment; and WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Zonta Club of Hilo Foundation for its service projects that are dedicated to empowering and inspiring young girls. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: FUND: General AMOUNT OF APPROPRIATION: $2,000 OUT AND FROM: 010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC-Contingency Relief $2,000 CREDITED TO: 010.251.5251.39 Department of Liquor Control $2,000 Public Programs 115 Misc. Contract Services (Zonta Club of Hilo Foundation-Youth Service Projects for Girls) BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
