OfCOUNTY OF HAWAPI STATE OF HAWAPI <br /> H��y <br /> RESOLUTION 2 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TTHE ZONTA CLUB OF <br /> ILO FOUNDATION TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO ITS "AMELIA <br /> EARHART GIRLS IN ENGINEERING DAY" EVENT. <br /> WHEREAS, the Zonta Club of Hilo Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization <br /> whose mission is to empower women and girls through public service and advocacy; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Zonta Club of Hilo Foundation is sponsoring a free "Amelia Earhart <br /> Girls in Engineering Day" event for 40 girls, and their parents, from various East Hawaii public <br /> schools; and <br /> WHEREAS, the event is designed to encourage girls in fourth through eighth grade to <br /> continue science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) curriculums with inspiring <br /> conversations, hands-on activities, and local role models working in STEM careers who can <br /> serve as mentors; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Zonta Club of Hilo Foundation is requesting funds to assist with <br /> expenses related to this event, including supplies for STEM workshop activities; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the programs under the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney is the <br /> Committee on the Status of Women that is tasked with improving the status and well-being of <br /> women and girls, working towards gender equality, which is parallel to the mission of the Zonta <br /> Club of Hilo Foundation; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Office of the <br /> Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to the Zonta Club of Hilo Foundation to assist with <br /> expenses relating to its "Amelia Earhart Girls in Engineering Day" event. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
