RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TSPECIAL OLYMPICS
HAWAI'I INC. FOR ITS AWARDS EC GNITI N AND SPORTS SIGN-UP EVENT
IN WEST A AI`I.
WHEREAS, Special Olympics Hawaii Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
dedicated to helping children and adults with intellectual disabilities improve their quality of life
through sports; and
WHEREAS, Special Olympics Hawaii Inc. is organizing an Awards Recognition and
Sports Sign-up event on January 28, 2023, in West Hawaii to honor participating athletes,
coaches, volunteers, family, and services organizations; and
WHEREAS, Special Olympics Hawaii Inc. is requesting funds to help offset the costs
for awards, meals, refreshments, and flyers for its Awards Recognition and Sports Sign-up event
in West Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that provide
programs, educational activities, and community events in a drug-free and alcohol-free
environment; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to Special Olympics Hawaii Inc. for its Awards Recognition
and Sports Sign-up event in West Hawaii.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
