A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO SPECIAL OLYMPICS
HAWAI‘I INC. FOR ITS AWARDS RECOGNITION AND SPORTS SIGN-UP EVENT IN WEST HAWAI‘I.
WHEREAS, Special Olympics Hawai‘i Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children and adults with intellectual disabilities improve their quality of life through
sports; and
WHEREAS, Special Olympics Hawai‘i Inc. is organizing an Awards Recognition and Sports Sign-up event on January 28, 2023, in West Hawai‘i to honor participating athletes, coaches, volunteers,
family, and services organizations; and
WHEREAS, Special Olympics Hawai‘i Inc. is requesting funds to help offset the costs for awards, meals, refreshments, and flyers for its Awards Recognition and Sports Sign-up event in
West Hawai‘i; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that provide programs, educational activities, and community events in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to Special Olympics Hawai‘i Inc. for its Awards Recognition and Sports Sign-up event in West Hawai‘i.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
