Your Committee on Finance,to which was referred Resolution No. 477-22, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 477-22,transmitted by Council Member Ashley L. Kierkiewicz,via Communication No. 897
dated July 18,2022,awards a Public Access, Open Space,and Natural Resources Preservation Maintenance
Fund stewardship grant to Na Maka Haloa O Waipi`o.
This resolution approves a grant of$119,900 to Na Maka Haloa O Waipi`o, a 501(c)(3)nonprofit
organization,to protect,preserve, and restore the Pohoiki property (Tax Map Key: 1-3-008-097),
pursuant to Section 10-16(h) of the Hawaii County Charter.
Ms. Kierkiewicz thanked Annamarie Kon,Na Maka Haloa O Waipi`o President and Executive Director,
for her presence at the meeting.
Committee Chair Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder provided comments in support of the measure.
Pursuant to Section 10-16(h), Hawaii County Charter, an award of a stewardship grant shall be by
Council resolution to a 501(c)(3)nonprofit or an organization that operates under the umbrella of a
501(c)(3)nonprofit.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 477-22, and
recommends its adoption.
