Your Committee on Finance,to which was referred Resolution No. 491-22,reports as follows:
Resolution No. 491-22, transmitted by Finance Director Deanna S. Sako, via Communication No. 915
dated July 29, 2022, authorizes the acceptance of a donation of up to eight buses from the City and
County of Honolulu Department of Transportation Services.
This resolution accepts up to eight 2000 and 2002 40-foot Gillig Phantom buses, with an approximate
value of$1,000 each for the Mass Transit Agency's transportation fleet.
Mass Transit Administrator John Andoh provided a brief background of the measure and recent
Mass Transit updates.
Pursuant to Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter,the Council may accept gifts of donations of
money, securities, or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate. In addition,
Section 2-162(a), Hawaii County Code, states that any gifts or donations of money, securities, or
personal property which fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance may be
accepted by resolution approved by the Council.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 491-22, and
recommends its adoption.
