Your Committee on Public Works and Mass Transit, to which was referred Resolution No. 478-22,reports as
follows:
Resolution No. 478-22, introduced by Council Member Holeka Goro Inaba,via Communication No. 899
dated July 20, 2022, authorizes the temporary closure of the southern roadway stub-out of Ka`eka Street
in the District of North Kona, County and State of Hawaii.
Committee Member Inaba explained the temporary closure would reduce loitering, littering,
consumption of alcohol, and other illegal activities in this area until such time as the Council, by
resolution, authorizes its reopening.
Public Works Director Stephen Pause supports this resolution and has staff available to provide the
necessary equipment. Police Sergeant Michael Hardie also expressed support.
Your Committee on Public Works and Mass Transit is in accord with the purpose and intent of
Resolution No. 478-22, and recommends its adoption.
