No. 913/13ill No. 196 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 10:24 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Bill No. 196, reports as follows: <br /> Bill No. 196, submitted by Mayor Mitchell D. Roth, via Communication No. 913, dated <br /> July 27, 2022, repeals Ordinance No. 17-7, which amends Section 25-8-33 (City of Hilo Zone <br /> Map), Article 8, Chapter 25 (Zoning Code) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as <br /> amended), by changing the district classification from Single-Family Residential— 10,000 <br /> Square Feet(RS-10)to Neighborhood Commercial — 10,000 Square Feet(CN-10) at Waiakea, <br /> South Hilo, Hawaii, covered by Tax Map Key: 2-2-040:004. The applicants are Robert S. and <br /> Carol Oshiro. The project area is approximately One Acre. Bill No. 196 was introduced by <br /> Chair Ashley Kierkiewicz, by request. <br /> The Windward Planning Commission forwards its favorable recommendation to revert the <br /> zoning from Neighborhood Commercial to its original designation of Single-Family Residential. <br /> The property is located along the east(makai) side of Kilauea Avenue, approximately 180 feet <br /> north of its intersection with East Kahaopea Street. <br /> Planning Director Zendo Kern was present in the Hilo Chambers. <br /> Committee Member Holeka Inaba asked if the applicants had asked for this to be initiated. <br /> Director Kern responded that the applicants could either request a time extension or have it <br /> reverted back to the original zoning classification, and they asked the Planning Department to <br /> initiate the rezone. <br /> Committee Chair Ashley Kierkiewicz thanked the applicants for their time and proceeded to call <br /> for the vote. <br /> The vote was then taken on the motion to move this measure to Council with a favorable <br /> recommendation and passed with eight"ayes,"with Committee Member Tim Richards absent. <br /> PC Report No.: 73 <br />
