Subject: Support for Bill 120
Dear Council Members,
I'm writing to indicate my support of Bill 120. This bill will enable the buildout of reliable public charging stations
across Hawaii Island.
Public charging stations will allow equitable access to clean, efficient electric vehicles. They will allow everyone to
own an EV regardless of their ability to have a home-based charger.
There is an incredible movement towards a clean transportation future. Manufacturers are responding to consumer
demand and government bans on gas cars. The benefits - lower cost of maintenance and fueling, clean air, ability to
avoid gas pricing volatility, and, importantly, the ability to contribute to emissions reduction- drive an ever-
increasing EV adoption.
With Bill 120, we will help ensure the momentum is not hampered by inadequate public charging.
I must also note that charging station site owners can leverage rebates and incentives to offset costs and benefit from
the brand enhancement, actual charging station revenue, and indirect revenue from customers who linger while
waiting for their vehicles to charge.
