Dear Council Members,
I urge you to continue your support for and pass Bill 120. Bill 120 will enforce the state lave that calls for EV
chargers to be installed in large parking structures, for the stations to be maintained, and for enforcement
of rules related to parking in the designated stalls. When passed, it will increase the number of reliable
charging stations around our island. This will allow for more equitable access to clean transportation and
accelerate our transition to EVs.
Furthermore:
• Adequate, reliable public charging allows a broader and more equitable adoption of electric vehicles. Many
residents live in condos, apartments, and rental homes that make it difficult or impossible to install a home
charging station. They will rely on public charging stations to 'fuel`their cars.
• V owners with long commutes rely on public chargers to top of.
In Good public EV charging will be required to expand our EV rental fleet. Visitors require a good public
charging network to rent EVs. I especially support reducing the climate impact of tourist transportation. Per a
recent Earthjustice climate report"Hawai`i's per capita greenhouse gas emissions remain higher
than 85% of the countries on Earth. Emissions from Hawai`i's transportation sector are
increasing and expected to comprise nearly 60% of Hawai`i's total greenhouse gas
emissions by 2030."
Please act positively by passing Bill 120,
Mahalo for this opportunity to comment,
Diane Ware
