A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE SALVATION ARMY
TO REPLACE FOOD AND SUPPLIES STOLEN FROM ITS KONA CORPS COMMUNITY CENTER.
WHEREAS, The Salvation Army is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that meets the physical and spiritual needs of people all around the world, without discrimination, every day of the
year; and
WHEREAS, this past July, The Salvation Army’s Kona Corps Community Center was burglarized, suffering extensive damage to its building and robbed of school supplies, food, adult supplements,
adult diapers, and other items meant for distribution to community members in need; and
WHEREAS, The Salvation Army is requesting funds to purchase school supplies, food, adult supplements, adult diapers, and other materials and supplies to replace the items stolen and/or
damaged from its Kona Corps Community Center; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support organizations and programs that promote the health, safety, and welfare of the general public in a drug- and
alcohol-free environment, such as The Salvation Army’s distribution of food and supplies at its Kona Corps Community Center; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to The Salvation Army to replace food and supplies stolen from its Kona Corps Community Center.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is hereby
authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
