tV op.k! <br /> COUNTY OF I G *'' ` <br /> STATE OF HAWAIJ <br /> RESOLUTION NO. <br /> 5- <br /> RESOLUTION U I IDEPARTMENT OF RESEARCH <br /> AND DEVELOPMENT TO AWARD FUNDS TO IHO'OLAKO FOR <br /> HAWAIIAN INITIATIVES <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii <br /> County Code (2016 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of$25,000 <br /> to nonprofit organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the <br /> grant funds and the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in an ordinance <br /> or resolution; and <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136(5) of the Hawaii County <br /> Code states, "nonprofit organization" means an organization organized for other than <br /> profit-making purposes and which has a current 501(c)3 tax-exemption from the <br /> Internal Revenue Code; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hui Ho`olako For Hawaiian Initiatives, which qualifies as a <br /> nonprofit organization as defined above, will harvest gorse from Mauna Kea, <br /> renovate the Feed Mill located at the University of Hawaii at Hilo`s Pana`ewa Farm <br /> and conduct a study of gorse and other feedstock as a livestock feed for palatability <br /> and weight gain for the Gorse Pilot Program; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Research & Development wishes to provide <br /> $500,000 of State derived funds to Hui Ho`olako For Hawaiian Initiatives; now, <br /> therefore <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in <br /> accordance with Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii County <br />
