HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 541 Draft 01 2020-2022 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A MONETARY DONATION OF APPROXIMATELY $110,000 TO THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I POLICE DEPARTMENT WHEREAS, IRONMAN is donating approximately $110,000 to the Hawai‘i County Police Department; and WHEREAS, these funds will be used to cover overtime costs associated with staffing police officers at traffic points along the 2022 IRONMAN World Championship triathlon route in Kailua-Kona; and WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai‘i County Charter provides that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawai‘i County Code states that any gifts or donations of money, securities, or personal property which fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by Resolution approved by the Council; and WHEREAS, the Hawai‘i County Department of Finance has requested that substantial cash donations be recorded and accepted through the formal Resolution process; and WHEREAS, the Hawai‘i County Police Department recommends the acceptance of this donation; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai‘i County Charter, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawai‘i County Code, the Council of the County of Hawai‘i accepts this donation. BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to the Police Department, the Department of Research and Development, the Department of Finance and the Office of the Mayor.
