Your Committee on Finance,to which was referred Resolution No. 524-22,reports as follows:
Resolution No. 524-22,transmitted by Finance Director Deanna S. Sako via Communication No. 961
dated August 17, 2022, authorizes the payment of funds of a later fiscal year and of more than one
fiscal year for a multi-year agreement with Special Counsel for legal and professional services
covering workers' compensation matters.
This resolution authorizes the Mayor to enter into a three-year agreement with the law firm of Leong
Kunihiro Brooke&Kim to provide legal services on a continuous basis to maintain consistency in
the management and handling of workers' compensation.
There was no discussion on the measure.
Pursuant to Section 10-11, Hawai`i County Charter, any contract, lease, or other obligation requiring
payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year or of more than one fiscal year shall be
approved by Council resolution.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 524-22, and
recommends its adoption.
