Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 206,reports as follows:
Bill No. 206,transmitted by Finance Director Deanna S. Sako via Communication No. 958 dated
August 17, 2022, amends Ordinance No. 22-63, as amended, the Operating Budget for the County of
Hawai`i for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023.
This bill appropriates revenues in the State Grants—Gorse Pilot Program account($500,000); and
appropriates the same to the Gorse Pilot Program account. Funds would be used to renovate the Feed
Mill at the University of Hawai`i at Hilo and to study the potential of new feedstock sources.
Committee Chair Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder briefly explained for the record how Bill No. 206 is the
companion to Resolution No. 521-22.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 206, and
recommends its passage on first reading.
