Subject: Strong support for Bill 120 : s
Aloha Chair and members of the Hawaii County Council,
Please support Bill 120.
Please establish requirements for functional chargers and marked parking spaces for electric
vehicle charging. To ensure access to a limited number of chargers it shall be a violation to be in
an EV stall and not charging/intending to charge: This should be enforced for all county public
Level 2 chargers and fast chargers (Level 3).
Please give consideration to:
• Adequate, reliable public charging allows a broader and more equitable adoption of electric
vehicles. Many residents live in condos, apartments, and rental homes that make it difficult
or impossible to install a home charging station. They will rely on public charging stations to
`fuel' their cars.
• EV owners with long commutes rely on public chargers to top off.
• Good public EV charging will be required to expand our EV rental fleet. Visitors require a
good public charging network to rent EVs.
• Public EV chargers offer businesses a host of economic and brand benefits.
o Increased revenue from EV owner traffic and customers that will tend to linger
o Revenue from customer charging
o Corporate/business branding as being environmentally conscious
o Employee and customer perks
• Financial incentives — Tax credits and EV Charging Rebate to offset the cost of acquiring and
maintaining stations
Please take action to support people and our island home!
Mahalo,
Keith Neal
