A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAI‘I KEIKI MUSEUM
TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES TO CONSTRUCT “THE POWER OF WATER” SCIENCE EXHIBIT IN KONA.
WHEREAS, the Hawai‘i Keiki Museum is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created for the purpose of starting a children’s science discovery center in West Hawai‘i, and its mission is
to inspire curiosity, creativity, and innovation in children by introducing them to science during their formative years; and
WHEREAS, the “Hawai‘i Keiki Museum” in West Hawai‘i was established to teach our keiki through science discovery that local challenges are global concerns, and that climate protection,
ocean health research, astronomy studies, and earth science investigations are all currently being conducted on the Big Island; and
WHEREAS, the Hawai‘i Keiki Museum is requesting funds to assist with expenses for material, equipment, and related supplies to construct its science exhibit entitled “The Power of Water”
at its museum in Kona; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support organizations and programs that promote the health, safety, and welfare of the public in a drug- and alcohol-free
environment, such as the Hawai‘i Keiki Museum’s science exhibit in Kona; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to the Hawai‘i Keiki Museum to assist with expenses to construct “The Power of Water” science exhibit in Kona.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is hereby
authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
