HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 553 Draft 01 2020-2022A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HĀMĀKUA HEALTH CENTER, INC., FOR THE 14th ANNUAL FESTIVITIES FOR THE UNITED NATIONS INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE. WHEREAS, Hāmākua Health Center, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves the Big Island of Hawai‘i by providing accessible, affordable, quality health care, and educational services with an emphasis on individual and community wellness; and WHEREAS, Hawai‘i Health Center, Inc., is one of the numerous organizations that comprise the Peace Committee of Honokaʻa that is coordinating the Peace Day Festivities, which have become the most elaborate and significant set of events of its kind in Hawaiʻi; and WHEREAS, the 14th Annual Festivities for the United Nations International Day of Peace (Peace Day Festivities) is a series of free events that will take place in Honokaʻa on September 24 through October 1, 2022; and WHEREAS, the Peace Day Festivities events will include a Peace Poster Contest, Ring Your Bell for Peace (a world-wide event), a Peace Pole installation (in collaboration with the Rotary Club), “Wine at 5” (Blue Zones Project), the “Peace Out” Street Festival and a Day of Mindfulness; and WHEREAS, Hāmākua Health Center is requesting funds to help with expenses for promotion, professional fees, insurance, security, and prizes; and WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports developing partnerships with other recreation providers as well as community organizations to maximize services and activities for the public as well as providing educational and leisure activities to share, preserve, perpetuate, and foster the appreciation of our rich multi-cultural heritage in the arts, history, and humanities; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Hāmākua Health Center, Inc., for the 14th Annual Festivities for the United Nations International Day of Peace. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: FUND: General       AMOUNT OF    APPROPRIATION: $5,000       OUT AND FROM:    010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC – Contingency Relief $5,000      CREDITED TO:    010.500.5503.02 Department of Parks and Recreation $5,000   P&R Adm OCE    115 Misc. Contract Services    (Hāmākua Health Center, Inc.-Peace Day Festivities)    BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
