RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE AMAKUA
HEALTH CENTER, INC., FOR THE HONOKA`A TEEN HALLOWEEN DANCE.
WHEREAS, Hamakua Health Center, Inc., is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization that
serves the Big Island of Hawaii by providing accessible, affordable, quality health care, and
educational services with an emphasis on individual and community wellness; and
WHEREAS, Hawaii Health Center, Inc., with the help of the Department of Parks and
Recreation, is coordinating the Honoka`a Teen Halloween Dance, which will take place on
October 21, 2022, at the Honoka`a Gym; and
WHEREAS, the Honoka`a Teen Halloween Dance will be a safe, fun, alcohol- and drug-
free event that will include games, a Dance Contest, a Costume Contest, healthy snacks, and a
Disc Jockey; and
WHEREAS, Hamakua Health Center is requesting funds to help with expenses for
games, prizes, refreshments, decorations, supplies, and entertainment; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports developing partnerships
with other recreation providers as well as community organizations to maximize services and
activities for the public as well as providing educational and leisure activities to share, preserve,
perpetuate, and foster the appreciation of our rich multi-cultural heritage in the arts, history, and
humanities; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Hamakua Health Center, Inc., for the Honoka`a Teen
Halloween Dance.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below;

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
