A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE LIONS CLUB OF
KONA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, INC., TO ASSIST THE KONAWAENA HIGH SCHOOL LEO CLUB WITH ITS COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was created in 2008 to support local communities; and
WHEREAS, the Konawaena High School Leo Club, a youth branch of the Lions Club of Kona, is in partnership with the Kona Soil and Water Conservation District (KSWCD) to conduct its community
outreach project, which includes public education on land degradation and soil depletion in the Kona district; and
WHEREAS, the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation, Inc., is requesting funds to pay for television and radio advertisements and public service announcements, and supplies and materials
for its community outreach project; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development strives to increase communication, interaction, and understanding between residents and the agriculture industry to ensure the integrity
of Hawai‘i’s unique sense of place; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of Research and Development to provide
a grant to the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation, Inc., to assist the Konawaena High School Leo Club with its community outreach project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
