RESOLUTION NO. SGG 22
RESOLUTION TRANSFERRINGIAPPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM EIGNAT FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDEGRANT TT ALA
COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER FOR ITS KOHALA CARES PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the North Kohala Community Resource Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization whose mission is to increase the number of successful community projects that
benefit North Kohala through education, training, and bridges to funding, and has currently
supported over 75 community projects; and
WHEREAS, Kohala Cares is a project of North Kohala Community Resource Center
designed to provide the most vulnerable households in North Kohala with food and care support
through the purchase and distribution of groceries; and
WHEREAS, the Kohala Cares project currently provides 450 North Kohala residents
with weekly groceries to assist in the sustainability of its community residents; and
WHEREAS, the North Kohala Community Resource Center is requesting funds to be
used for the purchase of food and groceries for the Kohala Cares community food distribution
project in North Kohala; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports the enhancement of
the standard of living of food-insecure residents through food assistance programs; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of
Research and Development to provide a grant to North Kohala Community Resource Center for
its Kohala Cares project for community food distribution.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
