RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCEMONETARY
DONATIONOF APPROXIMATELY0,00 THE COUNTY
HAWAVI POLICE DEPARTMENT
REAS, IRONMAN is donating approximately $240,000 to the Hawaii
County Police Department; and
WHEREAS, these funds will be used to cover overtime costs associated with
staffing police officers at traffic points along the 2022 IRONMAN World
Championship triathlon route in Kailua-Kona; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides
that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money,
securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate,
and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawaii County Code states that
any gifts or donations of money, securities, or personal property which fall within the
capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by
Resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Department of Finance has requested that
substantial cash donations be recorded and accepted through the formal Resolution
process; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Police Department recommends the
acceptance of this donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, and Chapter

2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawaii County Code, the Council of the County of
Hawaii accepts this donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to the Police
Department, the Department of Research and Development, the Department of Finance
and the Office of the Mayor.
