oJN<v of a,�' <br /> COUNTY OF HAWA111 STATE OF HAWAFI <br /> orf°OF°NQ <br /> RESOLU'T'ION NO. 571 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THREE RING RANCH, <br /> INC., FOR ITS AFTERSCHOOL MENTOR PROGRAM AT THE EXOTIC ANIMAL <br /> SANCTUARY IN KONA. <br /> WHEREAS, Three Ring Ranch, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is an exotic <br /> animal sanctuary licensed by the United States Department of Agriculture and accredited by both <br /> the American Sanctuary Association and the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries; and <br /> WHEREAS, Three Ring Ranch, Inc.'s mission is to positively impact the environment <br /> while educating Hawai`i's children about their place in the natural world; and <br /> WHEREAS, Three Ring Ranch, Inc.'s Afterschool Mentor Program has recently <br /> resumed at the Exotic Animal Sanctuary in Kona after a two-year hiatus as a safety measure to <br /> keep its primates as safe as possible from exposure to COVID-19; and <br /> WHEREAS, Three Ring Ranch, Inc.'s Afterschool Mentor Program has helped produce <br /> teachers, nurses, veterinarians, physicians, and scientists; and <br /> WHEREAS, Three Ring Ranch, Inc., is requesting funds to assist with expenses <br /> associated with its Afterschool Mentor Program at the Exotic Animal Sanctuary in Kona; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support <br /> organizations and programs that promote the health, safety, and welfare of the public in a drug- <br /> and alcohol-free environment, such as Three Ring Ranch's Afterschool Mentor Program at the <br /> Exotic Animal Sanctuary; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Three Ring Ranch, Inc., to assist with expenses <br /> associated with its Afterschool Mentor Program at the Exotic Animal Sanctuary in Kona. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
