A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF THE FUTURE
FOR ITS WAIMEA COMMUNITY FOOD PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that envisions harmony and balance among the diverse people of Hawai‘i and encourages each person to contribute their
deepest values, create shared visions, and continuously improve their communities; and
WHEREAS, in response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) pandemic, Friends of the Future has established various community food programs through collaboration with stores, other
food establishments, and local, certified restaurants to provide prepared meals for the vulnerable populations in Waimea; and
WHEREAS, Friends of the Future recognizes the ongoing need to support the food-insecure residents of Waimea; and
WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is requesting funds for expenses related to its Waimea Community Food Program, including purchases and retrieval of food and supplies required for meal
preparation, serving, distribution, and cleanup; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports the enhancement of the standard of living of food-insecure residents through food assistance programs; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of Research and Development to provide
a grant to Friends of the Future for its Waimea Community Food Program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
