RE: Civil Defense Grant
The State Department of Defense, Civil Defense Division, has made $5,000 available to the
County Civil Defense Agency to develop and print a hurricane prepazedness brochure. Enclosed
is a bill for an ordinance appropriating these funds.
Also enclosed is a resolution authorizing the County of Hawaii to enter into an agreement with
the State Civil Defense for the preparation of said brochure.

A. REQUEST:
A County Council Resolution authorizing acceptance of five-thousand and 00/100
($5,000.00) from the Department of Defense, Civil Defense Division. Also an
ordinance amending the budget to include these funds.
g, aarxc;uniJND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region IX has made available
a program option which permits the State Civil Defense to provide modest
hurricane program grants to county civil defense agencies. State Civil
Defense has agreed to provide Hawaii County Civil Defense a sum of $5,000.00
to develop and print a hurricane preparedness brochure.
