ROLL CALL: Present: Mr. Holeka Goro Inaba, Chair Mr. Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder, Vice Chair (came in later) Mr. Aaron S. Y. Chung, Member (came in later) Ms. Maile Medeiros David, Member Ms. Ashley L. Kierkiewicz, Member Ms. Susan L. K. Lee Loy, Member Mr. Herbert M. "Tim" Richards, III, Member (via videoconference from Hilo) Ms. Rebecca Villegas, Member Absent and Excused: Ms. Heather L. Kimball, Member STATEMENTS The Chair directed the Committee to proceed to the next order of business, FROM THE Statements from the Public on Agenda Items. PUBLIC ON AGENDA ITEMS: (There were none.) COMMUNI- The Chair directed the Committee to proceed to the next order of business, CATIONS: Communications. Comm. 176.18: REQUESTS A PRESENTATION OF THE SEPTEMBER 2022 HAWEO AWARD TO XYLON TAKATA, KA`U PATROL OFFICER—HAWAI`I POLICE DEPARTMENT From Council Member Holeka Goro Inaba, dated August 29, 2022. Motion to Close File: Ms. Lee Loy moved to close file on Comm. 176.18. Seconded by Ms. David. CHR. INABA: Good morning everyone. And I'd like to welcome our Haweo Award recipient and his sergeant to the front table at this time. You can come right up here. And this morning we are awarding the Haweo Award to Xylon Takata, who is one of our Ka`u Patrol Officers. And I'll ask Sergeant Duldulao i i i PRPSC-36 September 20,2022 i (Duffy)to give the introduction and the reason for Mr. Takata being selected as the recipient. So you folks can both have a seat and then you'll just click your mic on and speak directly into the mic. Good morning. 3 CERTIFICATE OF (Note: At this time, the August 2022 HAWEO Award was presented APPRECIATION: to Xylon Takata, Ka`u Patrol Officer—Hawai`i Police Department, in recognition of going above and beyond the call of duty. Sergeant Duffy Duldulao came forward and provided statements regarding his exceptional activities in service to the community. Chair Inaba provided a celebratory Hawaiian Chant.) 3 3 CHR. INABA: And with that,there is a motion on the floor to close file on Communication 176.18. All those in favor, please say "aye."
