A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A 3
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HILO
EDUCATION ARTS REPERTORY THEATRE TO PURCHASE EQUIPMENT AND
SUPPLIES FOR ITS EDUCATIONAL AND MENTORSHIP PROGRAMS.
WHEREAS, the Hilo Education Arts Repertory Theatre (HEART) is a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit organization whose mission is to present theater, offer arts education, mentorship
programs, and provide student outreach to the community; and
WHEREAS, HEART has produced numerous community performances in the past and
is also producing "Home for the HiloDays", in December; and
WHEREAS, in coordination with these public performances, HEART offers educational
and mentorship programs designed to allow students to discover opportunities on both sides of
the curtain that might not be available otherwise; and
WHEREAS, HEART is requesting funds to assist with the purchase of equipment,
supplies, and other physical necessities related to these programs; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Parks and Recreation is to provide a
diversified recreation program that addresses the needs and interests of the respective
communities in a safe environment; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Hilo Education Arts Repertory Theatre to assist
with the purchase of equipment and supplies for its educational and mentorship programs.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
