HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 589 Draft 01 2020-2022A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO ARTS AND SCIENCE
CENTER FOR EXPENSES FOR THE NĀNĀWALE COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENT.
WHEREAS, Arts and Science Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports community development, greater access to education, and improving the quality of life through learning
with aloha; and
WHEREAS, communities have been slowly reconnecting and congregating after COVID health and safety guidelines limited community events and gatherings for the last two and a half years;
and
WHEREAS, Arts and Science Center along with the Nānāwale community is hosting a community engagement event on November 12, 2022, at the Nānāwale Community Center intended to increase
connections, promote social resources, and enhance resilience within and between neighborhoods in Puna; and
WHEREAS, Arts and Science Center is the fiscal sponsor for the November event and will procure the necessary equipment, materials, and services; and
WHEREAS, Arts and Science Center is requesting funds for food, musicians, decorations, sanitation supplies, and materials for the community engagement event; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support alcohol-free and drug-free community events; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to Arts and Science Center to assist with expenses for the Nānāwale community engagement event.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
