A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUNDS OF A LATER FISCAL YEAR AND OF MORE THAN ONE FISCAL YEAR FOR A MULTI-YEAR LEASE OF REAL PROPERTY FOR THE COUNTY OF HAWAIʻI DEPARTMENT OF
FINANCE
WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any contract, lease or other obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year or of more
than one fiscal year be approved by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Finance desires to lease approximately 12,571 square feet of office space situated at 120 Pauahi Street, in Hilo, County and State of Hawai‘i, from New Kaiko‘o
Building, Inc. (“Landlord”) to be utilized by their Vehicle Registration and Licensing Division and other County departments; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Finance desires to enter into a multi-year lease agreement that is anticipated to commence on or before January 1, 2023, for five (5) years, with the option
to extend the lease for two (2) additional five (5) year terms with Landlord; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Finance is requesting authorization for the Mayor to enter into a multi-year lease agreement with Landlord for office space; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that pursuant to section 10-11 of the Hawai‘i County Charter, the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into a five (5) year lease
agreement with two (2) options for extension for the Department of Finance office as indicated above.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that sufficient funds be budgeted in future fiscal years to cover the anticipated obligations of the County under the terms of the Lease.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to: (1) Mayor Mitchell D. Roth and (2) Department of Finance.
