A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HOʻOULU LĀHUI TO
ASSIST WITH EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH ITS WAIHONU RESTORATION PROGRAM AT LILIʻUOKALANI GARDENS.
WHEREAS, Hoʻoulu Lāhui is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides opportunities to perpetuate Native Hawaiian practices, values and beliefs in partnership with the community
to achieve unity, harmony, and total well being; and
WHEREAS, Hoʻoulu Lāhui’s community program to restore Waihonu at Liliʻuokalani Gardens consists of a series of events that provides interactive learning activities and teaches participants
of all ages about native plants, animal species, cultural sites, loko i‘a restoration, and utilization of effective microorganisms AKA genki balls; and
WHEREAS, Hoʻoulu Lāhui is requesting funds to purchase supplies and materials for its Waihonu restoration program including education and training on genki balls; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation provides and facilitates a wide variety of services to meet the needs of the community while maintaining the cultural uniqueness of our
rich heritage, diversity, and the aloha spirit; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide
a grant to Hoʻoulu Lāhui to assist with expenses associated with its Waihonu Restoration Program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
