HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 602 Draft 01 2020-2022A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE ALOHA CLUB OF
HILO FOR EXPENSES RELATED TO THE 2022 HALE ʻOLUEA CLUBHOUSE HOLIDAY EVENT.
WHEREAS, the Hale ʻOluea Clubhouse is a voluntary, psychosocial rehabilitation program for adults with mental health disabilities in East Hawai‘i, which is a branch of Clubhouse International
with 300 clubhouses in 30 countries; and
WHEREAS, the Hale ʻOluea Clubhouse has a unique rehabilitation format where participants work with staff to foster participation through self-determination and are treated as “members”
rather than clients; and
WHEREAS, the holiday season can be a very difficult time for individuals with mental health disabilities, and Hale ʻOluea Clubhouse strives to provide a supportive, low-stress, yet festive
environment for its members by providing food, social experiences, and group support through its annual Holiday Event that runs from Thanksgiving through the New Year; and
WHEREAS, the Aloha Club of Hilo is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides funding for Hale ʻOluea Clubhouse members, training for staff and volunteers, and vocational, educational,
social, and recreational opportunities; and
WHEREAS, the Aloha Club of Hilo is requesting funds to assist with expenses for food and supplies for the 2022 Hale ʻOluea Clubhouse Holiday Event; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports public programs that promote drug-free and alcohol-free community events; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to the Aloha Club of Hilo for expenses related to the 2022 Hale ʻOluea Clubhouse Holiday Event.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
