• <br /> REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> DATE: November 1, 2022 Re: Comm.No. 1069/Res.No. 594-22 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 1:00 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 594-22,reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 594-22,transmitted byFinance Director Deanna S. Sako via Communication No. <br /> 1069 <br /> dated October 14, 2022, authorizes the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the Federal Emergency <br /> Management Agency pursuant to Hawai`i Revised Statutes Section 46-7, for a grant to the Hawaii <br /> County Fire Department. <br /> This resolution allows for the receipt of$494,900, which would be used toward the department's <br /> purchase and installation of washer/extractor/dryers for personal protective equipment and for grant <br /> writer fees. <br /> Committee Member Ashley L. Kierkiewicz asked for Fire Department Chief Ian Smith to provide a brief <br /> explanation on this measure.
