Your Committee on Finance,to which was referred Bill No. 231, reports as follows:
Bill No. 231,transmitted by Finance Director Deanna S. Sako via Communication No. 1066 dated
October 14, 2022, amends Ordinance No. 22-63, as amended,the Operating Budget for the County of
Hawai`i for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023.
This bill increases revenues in the Transfer from General Fund account($6,000); and appropriates the
same to The Food Basket, Inc. Account. Funds would be used to provide a grant to the Hawai`i Island
Food Basket to purchase food for its Kona warehouse.
A motion to amend Bill No. 231 with the contents of Communication 1066.1 was made by Committee
Member Holeka Goro Inaba, seconded by Committee Member Ashley L Kierkiewicz. Mr. Inaba
explained that the amendment was made to correct the amount on Bill No. 231 from $6,000 to $3,000.
Mr. Inaba added that he believes this was a clerical error as he only donated$3,000 and not the reflected
amount on Bill No. 231 of$6,000. The amendment passed with eight"ayes,"with Committee Member
Susan L. K. Lee Loy being absent.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 231, as amended to
Draft 2, and recommends its passage on first reading.
