Your Committee on Finance,to which was referred Bill No. 234, reports as follows:
Bill No. 234,transmitted by Finance Director Deanna S. Sako via Communication No. 1069 dated
October 14, 2022, amends Ordinance No. 22-63, as amended,the Operating Budget for the County of
Hawai`i for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023.
This bill appropriates revenues in the Federal Grants—Fiscal Year 2021 Assistance to Firefighters Grant
account($494,900); and appropriates the same to the Fiscal Year 2021 Assistance to Firefighters Grant
account. Funds would be used towards the department's purchase and installation of washer/extractor/dryers
for personal protective equipment, and for grant writer fees.
Committee Chair Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder stated that this measure is relative to Resolution No. 594-22.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 234, and recommends
its passage on first reading.
