Your Committee on Finance,to which was referred Bill No. 237, reports as follows:
Bill No. 237,transmitted by Finance Director Deanna S. Sako via Communication No. 1072 dated
October 14, 2022, amends Ordinance No. 22-63, as amended,the Operating Budget for the County of
Hawai`i for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023.
This bill decreases revenues in the Federal Transit Administration Fiscal Year 2021-2022 (-$2,422,928)
and the Section 5339 Capital Grant Fiscal Year 2021-2022 ($-1,861,345) accounts; and appropriates the
same to the Federal Transit Administration Fiscal Year 2022-2023 ($2,422,928) and the Section 5339
Capital Grant Fiscal Year 2022-2023 account($1,861,345).
Mass Transit Administrator John Andoh appeared before Your Committee to provide some background
on this measure. Mr. Andoh summarized the purpose of this measure, explaining briefly what the funds
will be used for and how these funds will help the department serves the rural community.
Committee Member Herbert M. "Tim"Richards III praised Mr. Andoh for all his hard work.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 237, and recommends
its passage on first reading.
